Fortress Embedded OEM Modules
|
Fortress extends its capabilities by offering embedded systems for integration into other equipment manufacturer’s platforms. Fortress’ flexibility to design embedded mesh point or embedded client solutions into network systems or intelligent device platforms, leverages our core technology and delivers value to our customers and partners. OEM integration partnerships drive incremental utility to existing systems, optimizing SWAP+C and accelerating the adoption of wireless technology more broadly across the market. Fortress designs and controls the entire implementation and collaborates with strategic partners to uniquely adapt and integrate secure wireless mesh capabilities into a variety of solutions. Need for Broadband Wireless TechnologyThere is an ever-growing demand for effective defense communications that can support a whole slew of high-bandwidth applications such as video surveillance, streaming video, voice and various data applications. The objective is to empower the soldiers in the theater of operations by delivering mobile wireless solutions that are as high performing as a wired networks. The challenge of designing a solution for defense applications is that it needs to be ruggedized for the harsh environment and strenuous use. There is a need to support military-grade security and to protect against intrusion. The networks may be installed temporarily or permanently and need to be highly scalable and flexible with respect to user count and bandwidth requirements. Independent wireless networking solutions are not always desirable for the reasons mentioned above. A solution that can operate independently or be integrated into an existing product without sacrificing performance is the preferred choice for a wider deployment. Fortress OEM Product Suite
Applications with Fortress Embedded Modules
Fortress embedded modules are being considered for integration into satellite solutions, streaming video/video surveillance equipment, and ruggedized computers. Fortress's capability to quickly customize and deliver a high performance embedded module is the primary driver for this consideration. Fortress AdvantageFortress Technologies is the leading supplier of secure wireless mesh solutions to the military and has an established installed base. Fortress has a thorough understanding of the defense requirements and the preferred solutions. Fortress products have been received multiple certifications and accreditations, which indicates Fortress's expertise at designing equipment that meets the rigorous standards of the military applications. Fortress's hardware based standard and interoperable security solution is FIPS 140 Level 2 certified and employs NSA-approved Suite B cryptography. Fortress products support multiple frequency bands (2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz with UNII-1/UNII-2/UNII-2 extended/UNII-3, 4.9 GHz public safety band, and the 4.4 GHz military band) with pluggable radio modules, all designed in-house to deliver the maximum performance with low SWaP attributes. Fortress has a well established manufacturing and operations setup that enables it to deliver at high volume. Fortress's agile business model with tightly coupled engineering and operations groups enables a much shorter design and manufacturing cycle. |
Fortress Technologies has earned its reputation as the leader in secure wireless networking by consistently delivering easily integrated and easily managed solutions that are engineered and purpose-built for performance, survivability, and consistent reliability under the most demanding conditions. Fortress has the expertise to design embedded modules with
the most optimum SWaP-C (Size, Weight, Power and Cost) attributes that make them ideal for integration into an existing product. Fortress products range from low-power client modules to powerful 4 radio units that operate at up to 600 mW power. The Fortress four-radio unit (
Fortress is working with key defense contractors to develop integrated solutions that will meet the key requirements of optimized SWaP, reduced cost and easy deployment. For example, military vehicles make use of computerized displays for monitoring status and situational awareness. Integrating Wi-Fi modules into these displays enables the combat vehicles to have increased operational capabilities for the war fighters. Smart displays typically consist of a computer coupled with a high-resolution touch screen display, packaged to optimize Size, Weight and Performance (SWaP) and ruggedized to MIL-STD requirements to survive field use. A Smart display with an embedded Fortress module can easily connect with other military vehicles and outposts and enable them to share and learn from each other.
Another good example is the integration of the Fortress Wi-Fi module into a network system. Many Defense and commercial installations today consist of a variety of communication devices that are potentially incompatible with each other. The ability to integrate networking solutions could simplify and improve the performance of the overall system. This also enables integrated solution providers to offer more comprehensive and superior products to their customers.
