Rear Admiral R.G. Guilbault U.S.N. (retired): Co-Chair

Rear Admiral R.G. Guilbault's 40 years of combined experience in government and the high tech industry provides strategic direction and vision for the Board of Advisors. Serving in the Navy for 34 years, Rear Admiral Guilbault was the first commanding officer of the first Aegis cruiser, USS Ticonderoga CG-47, Battle Force Commander in the Sixth Fleet aboard USS Eisenhower CVN (69) and Director Navy Command & Control in the Pentagon. He also served as Deputy Director Navy Space & Electronic Warfare overseeing changing information warfare environments and C4I technology advances. Since retiring, Rear Admiral Guilbault served in the high-tech industry as Vice President for Strategic Initiatives with Digital Equipment Corporation & Lucent Technologies. In addition to his work on Fortress' board, he is the principal for R.G Guilbault Consulting and is a director of the Treasure Coast, Florida chapter of the Navy League..

Tom Hewitt Civilian Advisor: Co-Chair

Drawing from an impressive career in information technology and as the Founder and CEO of Global Government, Mr. Hewitt brings a tremendous amount of industry experience to the Board of Advisors. After receiving a B.A. from North Carolina State University in Aeronautical Engineering and an MBA from Long Island University, Mr. Hewitt has held high-level management positions throughout his career. He managed the Federal government's marketing operations for Boeing Computer Services and served as Vice President of Kentron Technologies. He also is on the advisory boards of AKAMAI, ProSight and WebMethods. In addition, he served on Virginia's First Commission on Information Technology appointed by former Virginia Governor, James S. Gilmore.

Dr. James E. Miller, Jr. Brig. Gen. U.S.A.F. (retired)

Dr. Miller’s expertise in intelligence and military communications technology makes him a perfect fit for the Board of Advisors. Dr. Miller began his Air Force career as a Signals Intelligence Officer serving in Japan, Thailand and Viet Nam. After a tour at the Defense Intelligence Agency where he managed multi-million dollar computer support systems, Dr. Miller was selected to enter the doctoral program at the Air Force Institute of Technology. His course work focused on numerical analysis and simulation techniques, with a minor in nuclear weaponry to include physics of nuclear explosions, residual effects, and radiation transport. Dr. Miller has held several government intelligence positions to include Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff of Intelligence for the U.S. Air Force, Director of Intelligence for the European Command, and Commander of the Air Intelligence Agency. Currently, Dr. Miller is a consultant on intelligence and military technology for Burdeshaw Associates, Ltd.

Rear Admiral Richard A. Appelbaum U.S.C.G. (retired)

With 35 years of active service in the United States Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Richard A. Appelbaum brings a wealth of knowledge to the Board of Advisors in the areas of maritime law enforcement and defense operations. One of Rear Admiral Appelbaum's greatest accomplishments during his tenure included, creating the National Pollution Funds Center, where he was responsible for designing the governing organization and managing the billion-dollar Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund. Since Rear Admiral Appelbaum's retirement, he's been of counsel to Keesal, Young and Logan, a West Coast maritime and securities law firm, and he has provided consultative services to a broad spectrum of other clients.

Tom Ferguson U.S. Ambassador

As a U.S. Ambassador during the Reagan and Bush Administrations, Mr. Ferguson provides a valuable global view to the Board of Advisors. As Ambassador to Brunei, he promoted military sales and U.S. Government interests in Southeast Asia. Prior to that he served as Deputy Commissioner and COO for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, where he was also responsible for the U.S. Border Patrol. As Director of the eastern Caribbean, he was responsible for the largest American presence in Theater. He negotiated country agreements with heads of states and Ministers of External Affairs for all 10 island nations. Currently, Mr. Ferguson is CEO of Ferguson Associates, a government affairs and international customs and immigration firm. His law and undergraduate degrees are from Vanderbilt University.

Lieutenant General Larry R. Jordan U.S.A. (retired)

With more than 35 years of service in the United States Army, Lt. General Jordan brings a strong focus on Army training and operations experience to the Board of Advisors. Early in his career he served as an Assistant Professor at West Point and a member of the Combat Arms Training Board. Lt. General Jordan held several high-ranking military positions including, Deputy Commander/Chief of Staff of the Army's Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), where he was responsible for integration and synchronization across the headquarters and the entire command in the areas of training, doctrine and material development. He also served active combat tours in Vietnam and Operation Dessert Storm. Presently, he works at Burdeshaw Associates Ltd. as the Senior Vice President for Army Programs
