Suite B

The Suite B Security Module implements a set of cryptographic algorithms specified by the National Security Agency (NSA) to provide standard, interoperable security for protecting both classified and sensitive but unclassified (SBU) information. Suite B provides a flexible, affordable and easy-to-use complement to heavily restricted Type 1 products currently used to meet U.S. government security requirements for classified information.

The NSA notes that there are roughly 1.3 million units of high grade cryptographic equipment that need to be replaced over the next 10 years. In addition to the U.S. federal market, Suite B products provide security that can be used by a wider audience including state and local governments, regulated industries, as well as Coalition and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries. Delivering Suite B compliant products required Fortress to incorporate commercial cryptographic algorithms – including Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for encryption, Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) for digital signatures and key exchange, as well as hashing – into its existing Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) and National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) FIPS 140-2 certified security architecture.
